Academic Ceremonies

This is your time to return to campus and celebrate with your classmates, hear from both your dean and the president, and walk across the stage in Lions Stadium as your name is called. To attend your school’s academic ceremony, you must pre-register by Friday, April 2, 2021, using the form emailed on March 25. You may bring a maximum of four guests with you to the ceremony. Guest tickets will be available for pickup just prior to the ceremony at a will call area in front of the stadium. Graduates will check in on C Street (between Lions Stadium and the Recreation Center) to line up for the graduate processional. At this time, you will also receive a card with your name to hand to our name reader during the ceremony.

Please be sure to read through this website prior to the event for important information on health and safety protocols, livestream links, parking, and more.

The Class of 2020's hourlong academic ceremonies will take place over the course of two days. Livestream links for those watching from home will be added the day of the events and will be live 15 minutes prior to the start time.

You have questions, and we have answers.

Do I need to wear my cap and gown?

Academic regalia is not mandatory to attend the ceremony. If you still have your regalia and would like to wear it, we encourage you to do so. If you no longer have your cap and gown and would like to purchase a new set, please email the campus bookstore.

I am graduating with honors. Will I be provided an honor cord to wear with my cap and gown?

Cords are not distributed for Latin honors. Your honors will be printed on your diploma, which you will receive in the mail after final grades are processed. If you are part of any honor societies, please contact them directly regarding obtaining honor cords and whether they provide them or offer them for purchase.

Where should I park? Where should my guests park?

Please follow campus signage and directions from Campus Police to designated parking areas.

Where should I go when I arrive on campus?

All graduates should head to C Street (the road between Lions Stadium and the Recreation Center) to line up for the graduate processional.

Do I need to pick up the tickets for my guests?

Graduates or their guests may pick up the tickets from the will call area. Tickets will be under each graduate’s name. Graduates are responsible for ensuring only four guests attend their ceremony; additional tickets will not be available.

Will additional guest tickets be available?

To ensure compliance with state capacity limits, each graduate is limited to four guest tickets. Additional guests cannot be accommodated on campus and are asked to watch the event livestream from home.

Will the ceremony be held rain or shine?

Yes, it will be held rain or shine, though in the event of severe weather (i.e., lightning and high winds), we will communicate any changes to the schedule through this website. Those who choose not to attend may watch from home via a livestream link available on the homepage of this site. Please note that graduates who do not attend the ceremony will not have their names read, but the names of all 2020 graduates will appear in a scrolling list at the end of their ceremony.

What time will the Lions Stadium gates open?

The gates will open to guests 15 minutes prior to each ceremony. Guests are asked not to congregate outside of the stadium and to wait until the gates are open to enter.

Is there assigned seating for guests?

There is not assigned seating, but guests are limited to areas marked as guest seating in the “home” section of the stadium bleachers. Once your guests have taken their seats, they must remain seated for the duration of the program.

Will the stadium seats be cleaned between ceremonies?

Yes, the school ceremonies have been staggered to allow staff to sanitize the seats between sessions. Seating areas will be treated with electrostatic sprayers to ensure optimum sanitization. We appreciate your patience and ask that guests not attempt to enter the stadium until 15 minutes before each session.

What arrangements are in place for guests who require accessible seating?

Guests with in need of accessible seating can be dropped off at Trenton Hall, where golf carts with drivers will provide transportation to Lions Stadium. Graduates may complete the Accessible Seating Form to request guest tickets to the accessible seating area. Questions? Call 609.771.3077 or email Alanna Gutchigian, manager of conference and event services.
